The newest addition to the Bravo family, The Real Housewives of Rhode Island (RHORI), finally made its splashy debut this past Thursday, April 2, 2026. While the “Ocean State” may be small, the premiere proved the drama is anything but.
Here is your full breakdown of the cast and the chaos that unfolded in the series premiere, “Welcome to Rhode Island.”
The Cast: Meet the Rhode Island Royalty
The freshman cast is a mix of long-time locals, a familiar Bachelor face, and a legendary “friend” from Jersey.
- Alicia Carmody: A self-described “flip-flopper” who has been engaged to her partner, Bill, for 9 years. They have a child together, but she claims she’s in no rush to head down the aisle.
- Ashley Iaconetti: Bachelor Nation fans will recognize her instantly. As the only non-native Rhode Islander, she brings a different energy (and her signature tears) to the group. She’s married to a fellow Bachelor contestant, Jared Haibon.
- Rosie DiMare: The former weather girl/traffic reporter at her local news affiliated station. She’s already at odds with several women over rumors she’s heard about her doppelganger castmate.
- Liz McGraw: A friend of RHONJ’s Dolores Catania (they met at a cannabis convention when Dolo’s ex, Frank, wanted to get into the weed business too!). She could be fraternal twins with Dolo!
- Kelsey Swanson: Currently the center of some wild “polygamy” rumors. She’s close friends with Jo-Ellen and Liz, who don’t share the same “nosey Rosie” curiosity about her weird relationship dynamics, where she acknowledges that she’s actually a sugar baby.
- Jo-Ellen Tiberi: A self-admitted “big mouth.” She’s married to her high school sweetheart, who might have dated her older sister; and the couple are rumored to be swingers. She has a rocky relationship with her mother too, it seems.
- Rulla Nehme Pontarelli: A local powerhouse who rounds out the main cast… but we haven’t been introduced to her, yet.
- Dolores Catania (Friend-of): The RHONJ veteran has moved to RI for the summer with her boyfriend Paulie, acting as the bridge between the new franchise and the audience at home.
Premiere Recap: “Welcome to Rhode Island”
The Game That Went Wrong
The episode kicked off with an “elegant” beach picnic that quickly devolved into a mess. To break the ice, the women played a game of “Never Have I Ever.” What started as lighthearted banter about “butt stuff” turned cold when Jo-Ellen called out Rosie for sh*t talking because Rosie (like everyone else watching at home) was curious about Kelsey’s open relationship with her sugar daddy.
Rosie didn’t hold back, firing back that she had heard Jo-Ellen calling her cheap for her $6 bottle of wine, and claiming that “even children wouldn’t like her.” $6 is definitely cheap, because even a 12-pack case of soda costs more than that! Rosie and Jo-Ellen go back and forth before Rosie starts crying saying that Jo-Ellen is trying to turn the others against her.
The “Polygamy” Allegations
It actually started because of someone who wasn’t even at Rosie’s picnic event. Rosie began questioning Kelsey’s relationship status, hinting at rumors of a “polygamist” lifestyle. While Jo-Ellen and Kelsey slammed Rosie for not being a “girl’s girl,” the audience already had a raised eyebrow when Kelsey stated herself that her sugar daddy is in Miami half the year with his other lady! Jo-Ellen (true to her big-mouth reputation) immediately went back and told Kelsey everything Rosie was saying, with a bit of added instigating.
A Fourth of July to Remember
The series premiere episode culminated in the franchise’s first all-cast event, a Fourth of July party hosted by Jo-Ellen at a beautiful venue.
Dolores Catania made her entrance as Liz’s guest, bringing some much-needed “Jersey” vibes to the New England Italians. (It’s like Atlanta doing a crossover promo for Potomac or something.)
Rosie showed up to the party with a $60 bottle of champagne and a “bouquet of fireworks.” Jo-Ellen was visibly confused by the gift, calling it “creative” in a way that clearly meant she didn’t want it or liked it, but she might just be feeling catty about Rosie more than anything else though.
By the end of the night, alliances were already carved in stone. Jo-Ellen and Kelsey are locked in against Rosie, while Alicia and Liz are trying (and failing) to keep the peace, and Dolo stares on into the scenic waterfront, wishing she was at the Jersey Shore wondering if RHONJ is ever coming back or not (it is, but Dolo didn’t know that when she was filming RHORI).
The Verdict: If you like your Housewives with a side of clam bakes and high-intensity New England accents, RHORI is going to be your new obsession.
